THE STUDIO
I am I guess what you'd call a terribly enthusistic hobbyist. I have a day job and I make pots because I love to and I am eternally curious about this entire world. I work at a wonderful community studio in Shelburne Falls, MA called The Handle Factory. A community studio means I don't call the shots so I can't always be sure about pacing. It also means I make stuff with a whole bunch of cool people and these people are all collaborate to keep the shop running. I am grateful.


THE POTS

I make all my work by hand from slabs, coils, and carving, as opposed to throwing work on the wheel. The pots are a little wonky and uneven, beautiful nerds with visible "imperfections" and awkward details, each a one-of-a-kind of portrait of all of us. 

Everything is made from buff or brown stoneware. Once a year I make a collection of black clay.

The brighter pigments are underglazes, often used over another glaze, plus various studio glazes as well. When you read that a piece has "slip" on it, that refers to painting a liquid clay onto the surface of a pot to achieve a surface effect. 

All work is food and dishwasher safe. 

Do not bake with these pieces unless specifically noted that it has been tested.

THE SHOP 
I announce my shop openings on social media, and since I'm just a solo operation, and people have been very kind to me, they tend to sell out pretty quick. Especially mugs. BUT if you see a design you like and it sells out, drop me a line and we will see what I have in production and if I can make you another version of it. I can't always do this, but it is certainly worth a shot. 

SHIPPING

This has been the hardest part to figure out and I’m trying to make it work as I go. I use the USPS and flat rate boxes whenever possible. If you end up overpaying in shipping, I will Venmo you a refund of your overage. I know this is a clunky system but it's the best I've got so far.

Your privacy is taking quite a beating these days.  My shop hosts at BigCartel, Stripe, and PayPal use SSL which adds a layer of security when you enter information on our website and throughout your transaction.

SALES TAX

Sales tax is automatically calculated by Big Cartel according to local, state, and federal tax laws based on my location, and yours.

WHOLESALE

At this time I am not taking any wholesale orders. 

COMMISSIONS

If you have a ton of time on your hands and are not in a rush, we can work out dish sets for commission. This takes a lot of conversation and is a significant investment. Plus, because the flat pieces take up a ton of room in the kiln, it will take quite some time before a whole set is complete. Months.
